Description

Mr. Rafael PatiƱo is currently the Deputy Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Paris. Mr. PatiƱo has extensive experience as a diplomat having been assigned previously as the Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Lisbon overseeing U.S. trade and investment promotion in Portugal, the U.S. Commercial AttachĆ© at the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, with responsibility for U.S. trade promotion across the Caribbean as well as assignments at the Los Angeles U.S. Export Assistance Center. Mr. PatiƱo also served several details to the Department of Commerce Office of European Country Affairs and as Deputy Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Israel where he was responsible for the management of the U.S. Government’s commercial support programs in Israel and the Palestinian Territories. Prior to joining the Department of Commerce in 2010, Rafael was Vice President for Bank of America in Los Angeles, California, administering the systems development project and operational portfolio in the Home Mortgage division; In addition to his extensive management and project delivery experience, Mr. PatiƱo was a founding member of an information security consulting firm and was a Manager for Deloitte. A life-long Californian, Rafael grew up in Irvine and attended the Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine (M.B.A.), the University of California, Irvine (B.A., Comparative Literature), and has a certificate in European Legal Studies from Tulane University. He speaks Portuguese, Spanish, and French.
