Sustainable Best Practices

The AUTONOMY MOBILITY WORLD EXPO best practices aim to limit the environmental impact of the event and improve its integration into the local environment.

It applies to each stage of the event (design, assembly and dismantling) and is structured around 8 main objectives:

Objective 1 To limit the ecological footprint of the transport of people and goods.

Access to the event

Autonomy Mobility World Expo is organized at Pavilion 6 at Porte de Versailles, an easily accessible area, connected to public transport (less than 100 m). The Autonomy team communicates on the use of public transport, active mobility such as walking and cycling, carpooling and the locations of shared mobility options such as Vélib’ stations. Many partnerships are signed with mobility players to share promotion codes with participants. Autonomy asks participants for their mode of transportation when they register.

Event logistics

Autonomy aims to optimize and pool deliveries by limiting the number of service providers. Some providers use hybrid and electric vehicles. Autonomy encourages exhibitors and partners to use local service providers to minimize their carbon footprint.

Objective 2 Save energy and water resources

Energy production:

Autonomy aims to reduce its energy consumption by limiting central heating hours and limiting the temperature in the halls during the show. During assembly and dismantling times, the heating is not turned on as doors are open.

Lighting:

We adapt the lighting to the use and the lights are only on during show hours.

Water consumption and management:

Autonomy installs water fountains to reduce the consumption of bottled water.

Objective 3 To favor the use of reusable and recyclable products and installations

Autonomy favors reusable and non-disposable plastic-free products/materials and uses installations that you can unbuild. Autonomy rents all the furniture from specialized service providers who reuse them for other events. Autonomy buys all the plants which are then redistributed within the team. Autonomy favors the use of natural and recyclable materials such as wood, the recovery of which is organized. The use of carpet is reduced to the main aisles and is offered as an option on exhibitor stands.

Objective 4 Reduce, sort and recycle waste

Autonomy organises an event at Porte de Versailles in Viparis which has implemented a very thorough waste recycling policy. All Viparis service providers follow this policy and waste is all sorted.

Waste recovery through appropriate channels is directly organized by the event's cleaning service provider.

Autonomy works with service providers who reduce waste by no longer using single-use disposable plastic objects (glass, bottle, bag, straw, cutlery, plates, etc.).

Autonomy offers three sorting channels to users: recyclable packaging, glass and non-recoverable waste by providing trash cans and drop-off bins.

Objective 5 To favor sustainable catering

For catering, Autonomy works with catering outlets attached to Porte de Versailles/Viparis and which follow the established sustainable development policy and implement actions to reduce food waste.

Local products (produced in less than 250 km) are favored and in short circuits to limit the number of intermediaries and seasons.

Autonomy also offers a range of vegetarian dishes.

Objective 6 Implementation of responsible communication

Communication has been entirely dematerialized for several years. We no longer print brochures or flyers to promote the event. Communication is entirely on the internet, on social networks, by email or in our weekly newsletter. Autonomy offers online ticketing. The access badge is dematerialized and readable on all types of mobile phones. We encourage participants not to print their badges. If participants prefer to print their badges, we recommend that they do it on recycled paper. We produce badge holders made from recycled cardboard instead of the plastic sleeves previously used. Autonomy uses eco-designed and reusable signage. Everything is printed on recyclable panels. The distribution of leaflets is prohibited during the event. We advise our partners to plan merchandising with eco-responsible labels appearing on the products and to favor useful, reusable and non-disposable products/goodies.

Objective 7 Raise awareness of sustainable development issues

To ensure the proper adoption of the commitments of the best practices and the promotion of the efforts undertaken, raising awareness among all stakeholders is essential.

Autonomy raises awareness among participants onsite. Notice boards remind participants of the waste collection points.

Information related to recycling and best practices is listed on the website and in the technical guide. We also send a reminder email 1 month before the show.

Autonomy informs and raises awareness among employees and service providers of the show's sustainable approach and objectives.

Objective 8 To be able to issue a report and an evaluation of the show with objectives to achieve for the next edition

Autonomy measures energy and water consumption during the event.

Autonomy calculates the transportation carbon footprint by asking participants their mode of transportation when they register.

An environmental assessment of the event will be established, in order to identify emission sources likely to be reduced and propose improvements for future events.
